Rock Lake Creek Campground is a great base for accessing Mammoth Lake, Mono Lake, and Eastern Yosemite. It's located between Rock Creek and Rock Creek Lake which are both excellent for Alpers trout fishing.
Campsites are along the lakeshore. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, and bear locker. The tent only sites are spaced further apart than the ones that allow rvs and trailers. The campground has drinking water and flush toilets. Car parking is 25 -75 feet from the site so your vehicle won't be right next to you.
Come prepared to pack out your own trash when you leave!
Hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and boating are popular pastimes. The John Muir Wilderness area is nearby for wildlife viewing. Upper Rock Creek Canyon Trail is accessible from the campground and the Tamarack Lakes pack station and horse riding trail are close by.
Visit Rock Creek Lodge for breakfast. It's only two miles away.
East Fork Campground consists of four loops with some sites bordering Rock Creek which originates in the epic John Muir Wilderness area. The campground is nestled among aspen and lodgepole pines.
Tent, trailer and RV camping is available but many sites aren't suitable for larger RVS, or trailers larger than 35 foot. Each site has a fire pit, picnic table, and bear box. Parking spots are a few yards from the campsites and are considered walk-in by some visitors. There are flush toilets and potable water.
The area has amazing hiking, trout fishing, and mountain biking. Crowley Lake is ten miles away and Rock Creek Lake is three miles away. Rock Creek Lodge is a 5 minute drive down the road for a tasty meal. Mosquitos can be a nuisance in the summer so bring the bug spray!
The campground is at 8900 ft. Take care if you're coming from lower elevation.
Camp among the smell of pines and sage at Convict Lake in the Sierra Nevada canyon.
There are over 80 sites, each with a fire pit, picnic table and food storage locker. Some sites are reservable and some are first come first served. Convict Lake allows tent, RV and trailer camping although some sites have difficulty accommodating larger RVs. There are flush toilets and drinking water on site but no hookups for RVs.
Access hot showers at the nearby Convict Lake Resort. The resort has a restaurant, store, and a place to book boat rentals and horseback riding. The towns of Mammoth Lakes and Crowley are only 10 miles away if you need supplies beyond what the resort offers. A dump station can be found a quarter mile up Convict Lake Road.
For activities, fishing, bird watching, rock climbing, winter sports, hiking, and biking are extremely popular. A 3.5 mile lake trail loop is accessible from the campground and there is trout fishing at the lake or Convict Creek which runs along the camp.
No ATVs or ORVs allowed on site and there is limited cell phone connection.
